Our Team

Carol is the owner of fernhill Sport Horse centre and takes an active part in the day to day running of the Facility.

She has competed all her life and represented Ireland at Championship level. As the business has grown Carol finds less time to compete at top level so leaves this these days to Duarte.

Over her years as a competitior and producer of event horses she has developed a great skill for matching horses and riders and takes great pride in the results achived.

Her energy and enthuisiam for her job never wain and she is always ready to help you find your next champion.

Sophie is Carol's "right hand man" and runs the place in her absence.
Feel free to call her if Carol is unavailable for any reason. She has a great insight to the business, what she doesnt know she will find out for you

She is responsible for the day to day running of the yard and manages the staff.

Sophie has competed up to 2 star level and loves bringing on the young horses.

Duarte is our main rider of the upper level horses. He has competed at many 3 star events around Europe and represented Portugal at Junior, Young Rider and senior European Championships. He plans to make his 4 star debut at Badminton in 2010.

You can see him at most major events so feel free to approach him if you like any of the horses he is riding or to let him know what you are looking for.

Francisco is our Portuguese representitive.

He occasionally ventures over to Ireland to ride at the International events but spends most of the year in Portugal running the sales operation there.

He competes both eventing and show jumping and is always on the look out for new horses to join the string.

He will meet you at the airport, take you to see the horses based in Portugal, organise accomodation and help organise vetting and transport. But above all he will make you laugh lots and show you the real Portugal.

Well worth the trip.

Matilda first came to Fernhill in her school summer holidays several years ago. She has returned each year for a spell and joined us full time this summer.
She is a bubbly happy go luck girl who keeps us all amused through thick and thin
Matilda heads up the horse care team and is responsible for turning out the horses ready for clients to view.
She has just started eventing and by the spring we hope she will be competing all the pre-novice horses under the guidance of Sophie

Italian rider Luca Roman has joined our team as a rider for the Autumn season.
He has a wealth of experience , a former individual Silver medalist at Young Rider level he is an exciting addition.
His Mother and Father both represented Italy and eventing is in his blood.
