High winds and scattered showers greeted us in Lisgarvan and the horses were in high spirits!
Michelle did a great job as rent a jockey whilst Fraser is grounded. A last minute decision to run M2S in the o/cnc ** to enable Michelle to do the young rider trials proved a good decision when she finished 3rd around a very tough Xc track in desperate conditions. But true to form this horse just plodded through the mud looking for the next fence and the finish line. He has really become a pro at his job now and I think can genuinely be described as a schoolmaster. .
Fernhill Boo Radley looks to have a really exciting season ahead, he had a lovely clear round in the cnc* again the Xc was vert testing and he took it all in his stride. Finishing in 10th place after Michelle made the decision to take him steady Xc we thought was a great result for this young horse.
But the star of the show has to be Fernhill Casper who didn’t even notice high winds knee deep mud and the bitter cold. He just did his job like he had been at it all his life. Cantering Round the Xc in the time and straight into the winners enclosure. We were all very proud of him and of course Michelle who has really been thrown in at the deep end.
After such a good spin on M2S Fraser has offered Michelle the opportunity to ride him in Ballendenisk which will give her some more valuable experience at that level.
