This is Z as a 6 year old coming 7th in the World Breeding Championships in Le Lion D’Angers with Duarte and above just finishing on his dressage score and placing 4th at the Prestigious Four Star event in Kentucky with Phillip Dutton onboard. Z actually went pure show jumping after his success in Le Lion and was placed in Grand Prix classes and jumped several Ranking classes up to 145cms which I think showed on the last day in Kentucky.
We are so proud to have sold this wonderful horse to Phillip, both Duarte and I were very emotional yesterday and reminisced about our eventing days together.
We truly hope Phillip gets a slot on the team for WEG this year, we feel he can do no more to secure his place after winning the test event and now this.
All going well Duarte is hoping for selection for the show jumping team for Portugal with Fernhill Curra Quinn. How exciting to have a horse to watch in both disciplines.
After the horrific weather it seamed unlikely we would get to run , but the sun came out and the Fernhill team were on form!! The perfect going and superbly organised event at kilmanahan proved successful for our horses with 6yr old Fernhill exchange jumping a classy double clear to finished 3rd in his 1st CNC** as well as Feel happy picking up 4th in the CNC* with Fraser. Metalbridge Danny was also a gem jumping a lovely clear in his first novice, exciting things to come from all these young horses.
Great results at Annaharvey for Team Fernhill last weekend.
Our lovely mare Miss Fernhill won again in the CNC**. She really has come into her own now and has an exciting future! She loves her job and just wants to please!
Emily had good results in the CNC* placing 3rd with her new ride Just The Job posting a super double clear. Deputising for me on Fernhill Zoro she posted a great score to finish 5th.
The ever consistent Fernhill Exchange owned by Deidre Lannigan again won the E100 (Pre Novice). Again leading from the outset.
The two babies Fernhill Jackpot and Fernhill silk had a lovely confidence giving spin in the pre novice and look set to have a great Autumn season ahead. Love to get the young ones out for their first official event and see are they going to live up to expectations. These two did not disappoint!
Great to see our horses getting some good results Stateside last weekend.
Phillip Dutton won both Open Prelim division, one with his new ride “Z” on his first outing, what a great start to their partnership! He won the other section with the promising Fernhill Singapore who just seems to keep pulling out the results!
Fernhill Cubalawn was 6th in a very competitive advanced section adding just a few time to an impressive dressage score of 29!
Fernhill Fearless is back on form and took second place in the Advanced with Kim Severson, great to see him out again!
Madeline Foley and Kaitlin Tierney went head to head in the Junior class finishing first and second, just two marks apart on Avocoa Bravado and Fernhill Fiesta respectively .
We were soaked to the skin this weekend at Campfire international. Luckily all the Fernhill horse had their dancing shoes on with all dressages in the 40s!
All were clear cross country apart from a couple of time penalties due to overnight rain.
Unfortuently Miss Fernhill who was lying in 4th placein the CCI 1 star lying on a score of 44 had to be withdrawn before the final trot up because she bruised her foot on a root cross country. She is now perfectly sound a day later but we think she is such a promising mare we will save her for another day! She is going to have a very exciting future!
Massive congratulations to Emma Doogal on ex Fernhill Resident, Fernhill Tobasco winning the CCI 1 star!
Fraser also had a very good spin on Fernhill Revelation in the CCI 3 star. The rain was horrendous and the ground was deep with mud but he showjumped fantastically with the first part of the last combination down. A cross country was exceptional but Fraser did not want to gallop his best horse too hard on the muddy ground and picked up a couple of costly time penalties pushing him back into 11 place.
Fraser also had a great spin with Ardeo Design, finishing 10th in the CCI 2 star. It was this lovely thoroughbred’s first CCI 2 star and he is really showing his potential with a 47 dressage and clear cross country. he showjumped very well but the ground was very boggy costing him 2 fences.
Emily had her rides in the CIC 1 star. Her gorgeous Carrick Diamond lad bred Saunderscourt Diamond Lad finished 14th in the very competative 6 year old class. She had only been riding him less than a week beforehand and achieved a 47 dressage but again the rain paid its price and she had 2 showjumps on the floor. He was superb a cross country picking up no penalties in that phase.
Massive well done to organisers who coped excpetionally well with the weather conditions! And thank you to sponsors, owners and everyone involved with this very well run event!
We have had a few good results over the past few weeks in need of documenting!
Fraser bags another win in the CNC2 star with Miss Fernhill who jumps a smashing double clear inside the time on a fancy dressage score of 29.3! Not bad at all! He also has a 4th with Fernhill Casano. Very good results from these two up and coming 7 year olds!
Emily was just out of the prizes coming 7th with Fernhill Razmataz, an unlucky pole down in the showjumping knocked her back. It was Razzmataz’s second intermediate run and he flew a cross country! He is all set for his CIC 2 star in Kilguikey!
Emily’s other ride, the amazing 6 year old pony, Ballinaclough Blue Star flew round his cnc 1 star. He is a little machine being only 14.2 but well able to make up horse distances and scope to burn!
Fraser also had a 5th with Summer At Fernhill in the cnc 1 star, this 6 year old is a class act!
We took ten horses off to Monart for the unaffiliated event last Wednesday! It was a really sunny day and great to get a few of the less experienced horses out and about.
It was a great day to get mileage on the horses especially the four and five year olds doing their first dressage tests and getting them used to being away from home, in the lorry and being tied up. They all had a really good school round a course of showjumps and a full cross country
Of course Fraser Duffy won all the classes! He won the Novice with Sonet and was 3rd with Skye. Fraser also won the prenovice with Fernhill Exchange! Emily gave it her best shot the the 5 year old muchacho to come 3rd.
We now have much more grown up horses ready to go!
The very first qualifier for Dublin horse show was held 2 weeks ago at Scarteen in county Limerick.
It was the very first event for the newly amended Young Event Horse Series but everything ran really smoothly with the dressage followed straight away with a round of 8 showjumps and onto a derby track. For the 4 year olds it was 1metre in height and the 5 year olds were 1.10cm and the derby had ditches, skinnys, up and off a bank, a sunken road and a jump into a water splash followed by a gallop to finish. Then they were walked and trotted up in hand around a triangle to be judged on their type, conformation and paces.
And guess what our beautiful 4 year old the chestnut gelding by Newmarket Venture ridden by Emily Corbett stole the show and came 1st!
And Smokie our amazing 5 year old also ridden by Emily came in 2nd just behind last years dublin winner of the 4 year olds.
We are so excited to have such lovely horses and to be showing them at Dublin, the biggest horse show in the calendar!!!!
Fraser is back on the winners podium once again with Fernhill Ambassador after winning the CNC 2 star at Crecora last weekend! It was the Ambassador cruising gelding’s second run at intermediate level and he flew round the very tricky cross country course which caused a lot of problems. The showjumping also caused chaos but this was no problem at all for this lovely grey horse. He gave every fence room to spare and jumped clear to win!
Emily was also in the CNC 2star as she moved her ride Fernhill Razzmatazz up a level. It was very strong for a first intermediate but Razz made it look easy. They were one of only two to go clear inside the time! Razz had an unlucky rail in the last combination but jumped class to put them in 3rd place!
Fraser also had his 6 year old Dexter in the CNC 1 star, he was his usually self and did a smart test and jumped double clear! He is one fab little horse and picked up another rosette for 2nd place!
Emily had another whoopsie moment with her pony. She took him to do the one star and with a 30.2 dressage she would have been in second place but managed to jump the wrong fence in the showjumping. It was a very big 1.10cm track and the pony jumped his heart out for her. As you can imagine Emily was not in the good books, but she went cross country anyway and jumped round like a little stag. He is a very brave little jumper. At least we know he can do it!
We also had three of our 5 year olds out competing in the prenovice. Fernhill Exchange by Shannondale Sarco, Sunshone Cavalier and Macho. It was a great outing for them all going clear crosscountry. They had a lot of tricky things to do, jumping little skinnies, a drop into water, a double of logs on a curve, trakners etc. They are definitely more grown up horses after their day out. Fraser and Emily chose to take them steady, and give them a good experience and as the time was quite tight for the prenovice they picked up some time penalties which knocked then out of the ribbons. But we were delighted with our lovely younsters.
